[927] **For one who desires full awakening (sambodhi) … and what accords with the Dhamma (yathānudhammaṃ):** "Sambodhi" is a designation for the knowledge (ñāṇa), the wisdom (paññā), the faculty of wisdom (paññindriya), the power of wisdom (paññābala), the investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya) factor of awakening (bojjhaṅga), the examination (vīmaṃsā), the insight (vipassanā), the right view (sammādiṭṭhi) in the four paths (magga) … For one who desires to awaken to that sambodhi, desires to awaken in accordance with it, desires to awaken to it distinctly, desires to awaken to it fully, desires to attain it, desires to touch it, desires to realize it — hence, "for one who desires sambodhi."
**What accords with the Dhamma:** Which are the dhammas that accord with awakening (bodhi)? Right practice, practice in conformity, practice that is not contrary, practice in accordance with the goal, practice of the Dhamma in accordance with the Dhamma, fulfillment in the virtues (sīla), guarding the doors of the faculties, moderation in eating, devotion to wakefulness, mindfulness and clear comprehension (sati-sampajañña) — these are called the dhammas that accord with awakening. Or alternatively, insight in the preliminary stage of the four paths — these are called the dhammas that accord with awakening. Hence, "for one who desires sambodhi, what accords with the Dhamma."
