[928] **"That I shall declare to you, as I understand it" (tan te pavakkhāmi yathāpajānaṃ):** "That" means the dhamma in conformity (anudhamma) with awakening (bodhi). "I shall declare" means: I shall speak, declare, tell, teach, make known, establish, disclose, analyze, make plain, proclaim. "As I understand it" means: as I, understanding, knowing, discerning, recognizing, penetrating — not by hearsay of "thus indeed it was" (itihitiha), not by report of "so it is said" (itikirā), not by lineage of teaching (paramparā), not by scriptural collections (piṭakasampadā), not by logic (takkahetu), not by inference (nayahetu), not by reasoned reflection (ākāraparivitakka), not by acceptance of a view after consideration (diṭṭhinijjhānakkhanti) — I shall speak of the Dhamma known by myself, directly known by my own higher knowledge, evident to myself. Hence, "That I shall declare to you, as I understand it."
Therefore the Blessed One said:
For one feeling revulsion, what here is comfort — (Sāriputta, said the Blessed One) —
if he resorts to a secluded seat and bed,
for one desiring full awakening (sambodhi), the dhamma in conformity therewith —
that I shall declare to you, as I understand it.
