[932] **Of gadflies, swarming flies, and creeping things** (ḍaṃsādhipātānaṃ sirīsapānaṃ): tawny flies (piṅgalamakkhikā) are called "gadflies" (ḍaṃsā). All flies whatsoever are called "swarming flies" (adhipātikā). For what reason are all flies whatsoever called "swarming flies"? Flying up again and again, they bite; for that reason all flies whatsoever are called "swarming flies." Snakes (ahī) are called "creeping things" (sirīsapā). Hence, "of gadflies, swarming flies, and creeping things."
