[982] **"One should overcome lust for forms, sounds, and also for tastes, odors, and contacts (phassa)"**: one should overcome, thoroughly overcome, vanquish, overwhelm, master, and crush lust (rāga) for forms, sounds, odors, tastes, and tangibles (phoṭṭhabba). Therefore it is said: "One should overcome lust for forms, sounds, and also for tastes, odors, and contacts."
Hence the Blessed One said:
"Then further, there are five kinds of dust (rajāni) in the world,
for the removal of which a mindful one should train:
one should overcome lust for forms, sounds,
and also for tastes, odors, and contacts."
