Vinayapiṭaka · Bhikkhunī Vibhaṅga · Vol. 3 · Section 198

[198] **Whatever (yā pana):** whoever, of whatever sort … **Bhikkhunī:** … this is the bhikkhunī intended in this sense. **Before the meal (purebhattaṃ)** means: from the arising of dawn until midday. **Family (kulaṃ)** means: the four families — a khattiya family, a brāhmaṇa family, a vessa family, and a sudda family. **Having approached:** having gone there. **A seat (āsanaṃ)** means: the place for sitting cross-legged (pallaṅkassa okāso) is what is meant. **Having sat down:** having sat down upon that. **Should depart without asking the owners:** without asking that person in that family who is the owner [with the authority] to give. In crossing beyond the drip-line [of the eaves] (anovassikaṃ), there is an offense of pācittiya. In the open air, in going beyond the vicinity (upacāra), there is an offense of pācittiya.
