[330] Now at that time, those bhikkhus, having departed from that dwelling, returned once again to that very dwelling. The bhikkhunīs, thinking, "The masters (ayyā) have departed," entered the monastery (ārāma) without asking permission. They became remorseful: "A training rule (sikkhāpada) has been laid down by the Blessed One that a monastery is not to be entered without asking permission of a bhikkhu who is present; and we have entered the monastery without asking permission of a bhikkhu who is present. Could it be that we have committed an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya)?" They reported this matter to the Blessed One. …
"And thus, bhikkhus, let the bhikkhunīs recite this training rule:
Whatever bhikkhunī should knowingly enter a monastery containing bhikkhus without asking permission, there is an offense entailing expiation."
