[331] "**Whatever** (yā pana)": whoever, of whatever sort … "**Bhikkhunī**": … this is the bhikkhunī intended in this sense.
"**Knowing**" means: she knows by herself, or others inform her, or they [i.e., those bhikkhus] inform her.
A monastery (ārāma) "**with bhikkhus**" (sabhikkhuka) means one where bhikkhus are dwelling even at the foot of a tree.
"**Should enter the monastery without asking permission**" means: without asking a bhikkhu, or a novice (sāmaṇera), or a monastery attendant (ārāmika). For one who crosses the enclosure of an enclosed monastery, there is an offense of pācittiya. For one who steps into the vicinity (upacāra) of an unenclosed monastery, there is an offense of pācittiya.
