[490] Now at that time bhikkhunīs were sick. The bhikkhunīs who inquired after the sick said this to the sick bhikkhunīs: "We hope, ladies, that you are bearing up; we hope you are getting along?" "Formerly, ladies, we would ask for curds (dadhi) and eat them, and thereby we were comfortable. But now, being scrupulous, thinking, 'It has been forbidden by the Blessed One,' we do not ask, and therefore we are not comfortable." They reported this matter to the Blessed One. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a sick bhikkhunī to ask for curds and eat them. And thus, bhikkhus, let the bhikkhunīs recite this training rule: 'Should any bhikkhunī who is not sick ask for curds and eat them, it is to be acknowledged (paṭidesetabbaṃ) by that bhikkhunī thus: "Lady, I have fallen into a blameworthy act, unbecoming, which is to be acknowledged; I acknowledge it."'"
