[120] **Khattiyā brāhmaṇā devatānaṃ** (Khattiyas, brahmins, to deities): "Khattiyas (khattiyā)" — whosoever are of khattiya birth. "Brahmins (brāhmaṇā)" — whosoever are addressed as "bho" (bhovādikā). "To deities (devatānaṃ)" — for the disciples of the Ājīvakas, the Ājīvakas are the deities; for the disciples of the Nigaṇṭhas, the Nigaṇṭhas are the deities; for the disciples of the jaṭilas, the jaṭilas are the deities; for the disciples of the wanderers (paribbājakā), the wanderers are the deities; for the disciples of the avaruddhakas, the avaruddhakas are the deities; for those who observe the elephant-vow, elephants are the deities; for those who observe the horse-vow, horses are the deities; for those who observe the cow-vow, cows are the deities; for those who observe the dog-vow, dogs are the deities; for those who observe the crow-vow, crows are the deities; for those who observe the Vāsudeva-vow, Vāsudeva is the deity; for those who observe the Baladeva-vow, Baladeva is the deity; for those who observe the Puṇṇabhadda-vow, Puṇṇabhadda is the deity; for those who observe the Maṇibhadda-vow, Maṇibhadda is the deity; for those who observe the fire-vow, fire is the deity; for those who observe the nāga-vow, nāgas are the deities; for those who observe the supaṇṇa-vow, supaṇṇas are the deities; for those who observe the yakkha-vow, yakkhas are the deities; for those who observe the asura-vow, asuras are the deities; for those who observe the gandhabba-vow, gandhabbas are the deities; for those who observe the Great-Kings-vow, the Great Kings are the deities; for those who observe the moon-vow, the moon is the deity; for those who observe the sun-vow, the sun is the deity; for those who observe the Inda-vow, Inda is the deity; for those who observe the Brahmā-vow, Brahmā is the deity; for those who observe the deva-vow, devas are the deities; for those who observe the directions-vow, the directions are the deities. Whoever are worthy of offerings (dakkhiṇeyya) for whichever people, those are the deities of those people. Hence: "Khattiyas, brahmins, to deities."
