[146] "I ask you, Blessed One; please tell me this," (said the venerable Mettagū,) "I regard you as one attained to knowledge (vedagū), one of developed self (bhāvitatta). From where indeed have these sufferings (dukkha) arisen — the many kinds of them, whatever they may be, in the world?"
