[150] **Whatsoever, of many kinds, in the world (yekeci lokasmiṃ anekarūpā)** — as to "whatsoever" (yekeci): all in its entirety, everything in every way, without remainder, without residue; this word "whatsoever" is an expression of total inclusion.
As to "in the world" (lokasmiṃ): in the world of states of loss (apāyaloka), in the world of humans, in the world of devas, in the world of the aggregates (khandha), in the world of the elements (dhātu), in the world of the sense bases (āyatana).
As to "of many kinds" (anekarūpā): sufferings (dukkha) are manifold, of various sorts. Hence, "whatsoever sufferings, of many kinds, in the world."
Therefore that brahmin said:
"I ask you, Blessed One; please tell me this (thus said the venerable Mettagū).
I regard you as a knowledge-master (vedagū), one of developed self (bhāvitatta).
From where indeed have these sufferings arisen —
whatsoever, of many kinds, in the world?"
