[234] **"And in that I delight" (tañcāhaṃ abhinandāmi):** *Taṃ* ("that"): your word, your pathway of speech (byapatha), your teaching, your sequence of instruction (anusandhi). *Abhinandāmi* ("I delight"): I delight in it, I rejoice in it, I am gladdened, I approve, I accept it, I wish for it, I long for it, I hanker after it — thus, "and in that I delight."
**"The Great Seer... the supreme peace" (mahesī santimuttamaṃ):** *Mahesī* ("Great Seer"):¹ the Blessed One sought, searched for, and quested after the great aggregate of virtue (sīlakkhandha); hence he is the "Great Seer (mahesī)." He sought, searched for, and quested after the great aggregate of concentration (samādhi) … "Where is the god of gods? Where is the bull of men?" — hence he is the "Great Seer."
*Santimuttamaṃ* ("the supreme peace"): "peace" is a designation of the Deathless (amata), Nibbāna — that which is the stilling of all volitional formations, the relinquishing of all acquisitions (upadhi), the destruction of craving (taṇhā), dispassion, cessation (nirodha), Nibbāna. *Uttamaṃ* ("supreme"): foremost, best, distinguished, preeminent, highest, most excellent — thus, "the Great Seer... the supreme peace."
