Upasīvamāṇavakapañhāniddesa

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Cūḷaniddesa · Vol. 30 · Section 268

[268] **"It passes away; it does not come within reckoning" (atthaṃ paleti na upeti saṅkhaṃ):** "It passes away (atthaṃ paleti)": it passes away, it goes to its end, it goes to its setting; it ceases, is stilled, is calmed. "It comes within reckoning (upeti saṅkhaṃ)": it does not come within reckoning (saṅkhā) as "it has gone to such-and-such a direction"; it does not come within indication (uddesa), it does not come within enumeration (gaṇanā), it does not come within designation (paññatti). Hence: "It passes away; it does not come within reckoning."
