[277] **"Of one who has gone out there is no measure"** means: for one who has gone out, who has attained final Nibbāna (parinibbuta) by the Nibbāna-element without residue remaining (anupādisesā nibbānadhātu), there is no measure of form, no measure of feeling (vedanā), no measure of perception, no measure of volitional formations, no measure of consciousness; it does not exist, it is not found; it has been abandoned, cut off, stilled, calmed, made incapable of arising again, burnt up by the fire of knowledge (ñāṇa). Hence, "of one who has gone out there is no measure."
**"Upasīva," said the Blessed One:** the Blessed One addresses that brahmin by name as "Upasīva." "Blessed One (Bhagavā)"—this is a term of reverence … this designation "Blessed One" is a designation verified by realization (sacchikā paññatti). Hence, "'Upasīva,' said the Blessed One."
