[316] **Having abandoned all of many kinds** (anekarūpampi pahāya sabbaṃ): having abandoned — that is, having abandoned, forsaken, dispelled, made an end of, and brought to non-existence — purity, higher purity, complete purity, release, deliverance, and complete release [sought] through the manifold blessings (maṅgala) consisting of ritual observances and superstitious excitement; therefore it is said, "having abandoned all of many kinds."
