[318] "I delight in that word of the Great Seer (mahesī), well proclaimed, O Gotama, free of acquisitions (upadhi). Those here who have abandoned what is seen, or heard, or sensed, and rules and observances (sīlabbata) — all of it — who, having abandoned also the manifold, all of it, having fully understood craving (taṇhā), are without taints (āsava): of them I too say, 'They have crossed the flood (ogha).'"
