[369] **Overtaken by aging and death (jarāmaccupareta):** touched by aging (jarā), overtaken, beset, and possessed by it; touched by death (maccu), overtaken, beset, and possessed by it; followed after by birth (jāti), spread over by aging, overwhelmed by sickness, struck down by death (maraṇa); without protection, without shelter, without refuge, having become refugeless — hence, "overtaken by aging and death."
