[380] **"This island, with nothing beyond it"** (etaṃ dīpaṃ anāparaṃ): this island is a shelter (tāṇa), a retreat (leṇa), a refuge (saraṇa), a destination and final resort (gatiparāyana). **"With nothing beyond it"** (anāparaṃ): beyond that there is no other island; rather, that very island is the foremost, the best, the most excellent, the chief, the highest, and the supreme. Thus: "this island, with nothing beyond it."
