[403] **Let no encumbrance be found in you (mā te vijjittha kiñcanaṃ):** the encumbrance of lust (rāga), the encumbrance of hatred, the encumbrance of delusion, the encumbrance of conceit (māna), the encumbrance of view (diṭṭhi), the encumbrance of defilements (kilesa), the encumbrance of misconduct (duccarita) — let this encumbrance not be found in you, let it not be present, let it not exist; abandon it, dispel it, make an end of it, bring it to non-existence. Hence, "let no encumbrance be found in you." Therefore the Blessed One said:
"Remove greed for sensual pleasures," (said the Blessed One, "Jatukaṇṇī,")
"having seen renunciation (nekkhamma) as safety.
Let nothing grasped or relinquished¹
be found as an encumbrance in you."
