[412] "By which one would go under the power of Death (yehi maccuvasaṃ vaje)": those taints (āsava) by which one would go under the power of Death (maccu), or would go under the power of dying, or would go under the power of Māra's faction — for him those taints do not exist, are not present, are not found, are not obtained; they are abandoned, cut off, stilled, tranquilized, incapable of arising again, burnt up by the fire of knowledge (ñāṇa). Hence, "by which one would go under the power of Death." Therefore the Blessed One said:
"For one devoid of greed for name-and-form (nāmarūpa) in every way, brahmin,
no taints exist by which he would go under the power of Death."
Together with the conclusion of the verse … "Venerable sir, the Blessed One is my Teacher; I am his disciple."
The Exposition of the Question of the Brahmin Student Jatukaṇṇī, the Eleventh, is concluded.
