[425] **"Above, below, and also across, in the middle" (uddhaṃ adho tiriyaṃ vāpi majjhe):** "Above" (uddhaṃ) is called the future. "Below" (adho): the past. "Across, and also in the middle": the present.
"Above": wholesome dhammas. "Below": unwholesome dhammas. "Across, and also in the middle": indeterminate (abyākata) dhammas.
"Above": the world of the devas (devaloka). "Below": the world of the states of woe (apāyaloka). "Across, and also in the middle": the world of human beings (manussaloka).
"Above": pleasant feeling (vedanā). "Below": painful feeling. "Across, and also in the middle": neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling.
