[442] **"And of griefs, of both" (domanassāna cūbhayaṃ):** "Grief" (domanassa) is whatever mental unpleasantness, mental pain — the unpleasant, painful experience born of mind-contact, the unpleasant, painful feeling (vedanā) born of mind-contact. **"And of griefs, of both":** the abandonment (pahāna), the stilling (vūpasama), the relinquishment (paṭinissagga), the tranquilization (paṭippassaddhi) of both — of sensual desire (kāmacchanda) and of grief — is the Deathless (amata), Nibbāna. Hence "and of griefs, of both."
