[455] **"The world has delight as its fetter" (nandisaññojano loko)**: "delight" (nandi) is a term for craving (taṇhā) — that is, whatever lust (rāga), infatuation (sārāga) … covetousness (abhijjhā), greed (lobha), the unwholesome root (akusalamūla). That delight which is the world's fetter (saññojana), its attachment, its bondage, its defilement (upakkilesa) — by this delight the world is yoked, engaged, joined, thoroughly joined, attached, stuck fast, and impeded. Therefore "the world has delight as its fetter."
