[571] "'I shall recite along the Pārāyana' (pārāyanamanugāyissan ti)": I shall recite along what was sung (gīta), I shall recite along what was spoken, I shall recite along what was uttered, I shall recite along what was said — thus, "I shall recite along the Pārāyana."
"'Thus the venerable Piṅgiya' (iccāyasmā Piṅgiyo)": the word "iti" is a word-junction … this word "iti" is a sequential ordering of the words.
"Venerable (āyasmā)": this is a term of affection, a term of respect; this word "āyasmā" is a term connoting reverence and deference.
"Piṅgiya": this is that elder's name, reckoning, appellation, designation (paññatti), current usage, name, naming, name-assignment, verbal expression, verbal sign, mode of address — hence, "thus the venerable Piṅgiya."
