[584] **He of true name (saccavhaya), the holy one attended upon by me** — herein, **of true name** means: bearing a name resembling the true [names]. The Blessed One Vipassī, the Blessed One Sikhī, the Blessed One Vessabhū, the Blessed One Kakusandha, the Blessed One Konāgamana, the Blessed One Kassapa — those Buddhas, those Blessed Ones, bore similar names, names resembling the true [name]. The Blessed One Sakyamuni bears a name similar to that of those Buddhas, those Blessed Ones, a name resembling the true [name]; therefore the Buddha is "of true name."
**The holy one (brahmā) attended upon by me** means: that Blessed One was sat with by me, sat near, waited upon, questioned, and interrogated. Hence: "he of true name, the holy one attended upon by me."
Therefore the Elder Piṅgiya said:
The Buddha, dispeller of darkness, possessed of the All-Seeing Eye (samantacakkhu),
gone to the end of the world, having transcended all existence,
free of taints (āsava), having abandoned all suffering (dukkha) —
he of true name has been attended upon by me.
