[589] **"Those who formerly declared to me" (ye me pubbe viyākaṃsu):** "Those" (ye): the brahmin Bāvarī and those others who were his teachers (ācariyā) — they declared their own view (diṭṭhi), their own acceptance (khanti), their own preference (ruci), their own tenet (laddhi), their own inclination (ajjhāsaya), their own intention (adhippāya); they declared it, told it, taught it, made it known, established it, disclosed it, analyzed it, made it plain, and revealed it. Hence: "those who formerly declared to me." [Edition apparatus, Siam Raṭṭha footnotes: ¹ In the M. (Burmese) edition these two readings are absent. ² M. reads *pavadataṃ maggavādinaṃ merumiva*. ³ M. reads *adhigacchiṃ taṃ satthāraṃ jinapavaraṃ mahesin ti*.]
