[684] **"Looking to the freedom (serī) that is uncoveted":** "Uncoveted" — this thing is uncoveted by fools, by unworthy persons, by sectarians (titthiyā) and by disciples of sectarians, namely, the wearing of the ochre robe as a requisite. This thing is coveted by the wise, by good persons, by disciples of the Buddha and by Paccekabuddhas, namely, the wearing of the ochre robe as a requisite.
**"Serī" (free):** there are two that are serī: a dhamma that is serī and a person that is serī. Which dhamma is serī? The four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) … the Noble Eightfold Path — this dhamma is serī. Which person is serī? Whoever is endowed with this serī dhamma — that one is called a person who is serī.
**"Looking to the uncoveted freedom":** looking to freedom, viewing it, pondering it, examining it — therefore, "looking to the uncoveted freedom." **"One should wander alone, like the horn of a rhinoceros."** Therefore that Paccekasambuddha said:
In the midst of companions there is consultation,
whether in dwelling, in standing, in going, or in wandering;
looking to the uncoveted freedom,
one should wander alone, like the horn of a rhinoceros.
