[747] **"Having become without hope in all the world"** — "hope" (āsā) is said to be craving (taṇhā): that which is lust (rāga), infatuation (sārāga) … covetousness, greed, the unwholesome root.
**"In all the world"** — in the entire world of the states of loss, in the entire human world, in the entire deva world, in the entire world of the aggregates, in the entire world of the elements (dhātu), in the entire world of the sense bases (āyatana).
**"Having become without hope in all the world"** — having become without hope in all the world, having become without craving, having become without thirst: thus, "having become without hope in all the world, one should wander alone, like a rhinoceros horn." Therefore that Paccekasambuddha said:
"Not greedy, not deceitful, without thirst,
without denigration, with stains and delusion smelted away,
having become without hope in all the world,
one should wander alone, like a rhinoceros horn."
