[777] **Having cast off the marks of a householder (ohārayitvā gihibyañjanāni):** "the marks of a householder" are said to be hair and beard … or long or short [garments]. **Having cast off the marks of a householder:** having laid down, having completely laid aside, [2] having allayed the marks of a householder — thus, "having cast off the marks of a householder."
