[794] **Firm in exertion, endowed with strength and power** (daḷhanikkamo thāmabalūpapanno): **Firm in exertion** — that Paccekasambuddha was firm in his undertaking, steadfast in his undertaking of wholesome states: in good bodily conduct, in good verbal conduct, in good mental conduct, in the distribution of gifts, in the undertaking of virtue, in the observance of the Uposatha, in dutifulness toward one's mother, in dutifulness toward one's father, in dutifulness toward ascetics, in dutifulness toward brahmins, in respectful deference to the elders of the family, and in various other higher wholesome states — thus, "firm in exertion."
**Endowed with strength and power**: that Paccekasambuddha is possessed of, fully possessed of, has come to, has fully come to, is endowed with, fully endowed with, and furnished with strength, power, energy, and striving — thus, "firm in exertion, endowed with strength and power." One should wander alone like a rhinoceros horn. Therefore that Paccekasambuddha said:
With energy aroused for the attainment of the supreme goal,
with a mind unshrinking, not indolent in conduct,
firm in exertion, endowed with strength and power,
one should wander alone like a rhinoceros horn.
