[821] **"One should wander alone like a rhinoceros horn"** — "Alone": … "Should wander": the eight modes of conduct (cariyā) … one should wander alone like a rhinoceros horn. Therefore that Paccekasambuddha said:
[Apparatus, Siam Raṭṭha ed.: ¹ M.: *nikkaraṇā*. ² M.: *dulladdhā suduḷladdhā ti*. ³ M.: *paṭisevanti*. ⁴ M.: *paripucchanti*. ⁵ M.: this reading is absent.]
> They associate with and resort to one for a motive;
> friends without a motive are hard to find today.
> Human beings are impure, their wisdom bent on their own advantage;
> one should wander alone like a rhinoceros horn.
The Exposition of the Khaggavisāṇasutta is concluded.¹
> Ajita, Tissametteyya, Puṇṇaka, and then Mettagū,
> Dhotaka and Upasīva, Nanda and then Hemaka,
> the pair Todeyya and Kappa, and Jatukaṇṇī the wise,
> Bhadrāvudha and Udaya, and Posāla the brahmin too,
> Mogharājā the intelligent, and Piṅgiya the great seer —
> of these sixteen² brahmins of the Pārāyana there is the Exposition
> of the teaching; just so many indeed there are;
> and the Expositions of the Khaggavisāṇasutta stand right there³ as well.
> The Expositions should be known as twofold, complete and well written.⁴
