[276] "Blameworthy" (vajja): all defilements (kilesa) are blameworthy; all misconduct (duccarita) is blameworthy; all volitional formations (abhisaṅkhāra) are blameworthy; all kamma leading to existence is blameworthy. Thus a keen perception of peril is established with regard to this world and this blameworthiness, just as toward a murderer with sword upraised. By these fifty aspects he knows, sees, understands, and penetrates these five faculties (indriya). This is the Tathāgata's knowledge (ñāṇa) of the superior and inferior condition of the faculties of beings (indriyaparopariyatta-ñāṇa).
