Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Paṭisambhidāmagga · Vol. 31 · Section 361

[361] Bhikkhus, all those who have unwavering confidence (aveccappasanna) in me are stream-enterers (sotāpanna). Of those stream-enterers,¹ five have their consummation (niṭṭhā) here; five have their consummation after leaving here. For which five is the consummation here? For the one with at most seven rebirths (sattakkhattuparama), the clan-to-clan (kolaṅkola), the single-seed (ekabījī), the once-returner (sakadāgāmī), and the one who is an arahant in this very life — for these five the consummation is here. For which five is the consummation after leaving here? For the one who attains Parinibbāna within the first half life-span (antarāparinibbāyī), the one who attains Parinibbāna after the first half life-span (upahaccaparinibbāyī), the one who attains Parinibbāna without exertion (asaṅkhāraparinibbāyī), the one who attains Parinibbāna with exertion (sasaṅkhāraparinibbāyī), and the one bound upstream, heading to the Akaniṭṭha realm (uddhaṃsota akaniṭṭhagāmī) — for these five the consummation is after leaving here. Bhikkhus, all those who have unwavering confidence in me are stream-enterers. Of those stream-enterers, five have their consummation here; five have their consummation after leaving here. The Discourse on Views (Diṭṭhikathā) is concluded. ________ ¹ M. (Burmese) and Yu. (European) editions read: "tesaṃ diṭṭhisampannānaṃ" ("of those accomplished in view").
