[392] "Development" (bhāvanā): there are four kinds of development — development in the sense that the dhammas arisen therein do not exceed one another; development in the sense that the faculties (indriya) have a single function; development in the sense of conveying the energy appropriate thereto; development in the sense of repeated practice (āsevana).
For one who knows the mind's (citta) one-pointedness and non-distraction by way of long in-breaths and out-breaths, feelings (vedanā) arise known, become established known, and go to subsidence known; perceptions arise known, become established known, and go to subsidence known; thoughts (vitakka) arise known, become established known, and go to subsidence known.
