This person brings these dhammas together upon this object. Therefore it is said: "he brings dhammas together."
"And he knows the resort (gocara)": whatever is his object (ārammaṇa), that is his resort; whatever is his resort, that is his object. "He knows": the person. The knowing is wisdom (paññā).
"Peace (sama)": the establishment of the object is peace; the non-distraction of the mind (citta) is peace; the steadying of the mind is peace; the cleansing of the mind is peace.
"The meaning (attha)": the meaning of blamelessness, the meaning of absence of defilement, the meaning of cleansing, the ultimate meaning.
"He penetrates": he penetrates the sense of the establishment of the object; he penetrates the sense of the non-distraction of the mind; he penetrates the sense of the steadying of the mind; he penetrates the sense of the cleansing of the mind. Therefore it is said: "and he penetrates the meaning of peace."
