[399] "He brings the path together (maggaṃ samodhāneti)": how does he bring the path together?
He brings together Right View (sammādiṭṭhi) in the sense of seeing; he brings together Right Thought (sammāsaṅkappa) in the sense of directing [the mind] upon [its object]; he brings together Right Speech (sammāvācā) in the sense of embracing; he brings together Right Action (sammākammanta) in the sense of originating; he brings together Right Livelihood (sammā-ājīva) in the sense of cleansing; he brings together Right Effort (sammāvāyāma) in the sense of exertion; he brings together Right Mindfulness (sammāsati) in the sense of establishing; he brings together Right Concentration (sammāsamādhi) in the sense of non-distraction. This person brings this path together upon this object (ārammaṇa). Therefore it is said, "he brings the path together."
"And he knows the resort (gocara)" … Therefore it is said, "and he penetrates that which has peace as its goal (samattha)."
