[398] "He brings together the factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga)": how does he bring together the factors of awakening?
He brings together the mindfulness factor of awakening in the sense of establishing (upaṭṭhāna); he brings together the investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya) factor of awakening in the sense of investigation (pavicaya); he brings together the energy (vīriya) factor of awakening in the sense of exertion (paggaha); he brings together the rapture (pīti) factor of awakening in the sense of pervasion (pharaṇa); he brings together the tranquility (passaddhi) factor of awakening in the sense of peace (upasama); he brings together the concentration (samādhi) factor of awakening in the sense of non-distraction (avikkhepa); he brings together the equanimity (upekkhā) factor of awakening in the sense of reflection (paṭisaṅkhāna). This person brings together these factors of awakening in this object. Therefore it is said: "He brings together the factors of awakening."
"And he understands the resort (gocara)" … therefore it is said: "And he penetrates that which has peace as its meaning (samattha)."
