[456] How should the faculties (indriya) be seen in the sense of establishment (adhiṭṭhāna)?
Zeal (chanda) arises for the development (bhāvanā) of the faith faculty (saddhindriya); by the power of zeal, by the power of faith (saddhā), the faith faculty becomes established. By the power of zeal, gladness (pāmujja) arises; by the power of gladness, by the power of faith, the faith faculty becomes established. … Thus should the faculties be seen in the sense of establishment.
