[556] Aging and death are the truth of suffering (dukkha); birth is the truth of origin; the escape (nissaraṇa) from both is the truth of cessation; the understanding of cessation is the truth of the path. Birth is the truth of suffering; existence (bhava) is the truth of origin; the escape from both is the truth of cessation; the understanding of cessation is the truth of the path. Existence is the truth of suffering; clinging (upādāna) is the truth of origin; the escape from both is the truth of cessation; the understanding of cessation is the truth of the path. Clinging is the truth of suffering; craving (taṇhā) is the truth of origin; the escape from both is the truth of cessation; the understanding of cessation is the truth of the path.
