[574] Bhikkhus, when the liberation of mind (cetovimutti) through loving-kindness (mettā) has been pursued, developed, made much of, made a vehicle, made a basis, kept up, consolidated, and well undertaken, eleven benefits (ānisaṃsa) are to be expected. What eleven? One sleeps happily; one wakes happily; one sees no evil dreams; one is dear to human beings; one is dear to non-human beings; deities protect one; neither fire, nor poison, nor weapon harms one; one's mind (citta) becomes concentrated (samādhi) quickly; one's facial complexion becomes bright; one dies unconfused; and, if one penetrates no higher, one goes to the Brahmā world. Bhikkhus, when the liberation of mind through loving-kindness has been pursued, developed, made much of, made a vehicle, made a basis, kept up, consolidated, and well undertaken, these eleven benefits are to be expected.
