[651] What is emptiness through acquisition (pariggahasuñña)? The acquisition of renunciation (nekkhamma) is empty of sensual desire; the acquisition of non-ill will is empty of ill will; the acquisition of the perception of light (ālokasaññā) is empty of dullness and drowsiness; the acquisition of non-distraction is empty of restlessness; the acquisition of the defining of dhammas is empty of doubt; the acquisition of knowledge (ñāṇa) is empty of ignorance; the acquisition of gladness is empty of discontent; the acquisition of the first jhāna is empty of the hindrances (nīvaraṇa) … the acquisition of the path of arahantship is empty of all defilements. This is emptiness through acquisition.
