[674] "They lead to the state of joyous wisdom (hāsapaññā)": what is joyous wisdom?
Here someone, abounding in gladness, abounding in joyous inspiration, abounding in contentment, abounding in delight, fulfills the virtues: thus it is joyous wisdom. Abounding in gladness, abounding in joyous inspiration, abounding in contentment, abounding in delight, he fulfills restraint of the senses (indriyasaṃvara): thus it is joyous wisdom. Abounding in gladness, abounding in joyous inspiration, abounding in contentment, abounding in delight, he fulfills moderation in eating: thus it is joyous wisdom. Abounding in gladness, abounding in joyous inspiration, abounding in contentment, abounding in delight, he fulfills devotion to wakefulness (jāgariyānuyoga): thus it is joyous wisdom. Abounding in gladness, abounding in joyous inspiration, abounding in contentment, abounding in delight, he fulfills the aggregate (khandha) of virtue … the aggregate of concentration (samādhi), the aggregate of wisdom, the aggregate of liberation, and the aggregate of the knowledge (ñāṇa) and vision of liberation: thus it is joyous wisdom. He penetrates the possible and the impossible (ṭhānāṭṭhāna) … he fulfills the meditative dwellings and attainments … he penetrates the noble truths (ariyasacca) … he develops the establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) … he develops the right strivings … he develops the bases of spiritual power … he develops the faculties … he develops the powers … he develops the factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) … he develops the noble path (magga) … he realizes the fruits of asceticism: thus it is joyous wisdom. Abounding in gladness, abounding in joyous inspiration, abounding in contentment, abounding in delight, he penetrates the direct knowledges (abhiññā): thus it is joyous wisdom. Abounding in gladness, abounding in joyous inspiration, abounding in contentment, abounding in delight, he realizes Nibbāna, the ultimate goal (paramattha): thus it is joyous wisdom.
