[686] What is the power of transformation (vikubbanā iddhi)?
Abhibhū by name, a disciple of the Blessed One Sikhī, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One, standing in the Brahma world (brahmaloka), made the thousandfold world-system (sahassīlokadhātu) understand by means of his voice. He taught the Dhamma with his body visible; he taught the Dhamma with his body invisible; he taught the Dhamma with the lower half of his body visible and the upper half of his body invisible; he taught the Dhamma with the upper half of his body visible and the lower half of his body invisible. Having abandoned his normal appearance, he displays the appearance of a boy, or displays the appearance of a nāga, or displays the appearance of a supaṇṇa, or displays the appearance of a yakkha, or displays the appearance of an asura, or displays the appearance of Inda, or displays the appearance of a deva, or displays the appearance of Brahmā, or displays the appearance of the ocean, or displays the appearance of a mountain, or displays the appearance of a forest, or displays the appearance of a lion, or displays the appearance of a tiger, or displays the appearance of a leopard; he displays an elephant, he displays a horse, he displays a chariot, he displays a foot soldier, he displays various arrays of an army. This is the power of transformation.
