[152] "A couch (pallaṅka), together with its covering above, was indeed given by me
to the Blessed One Sumedha, the eldest of the world, the steadfast one (tādī).
That couch was then endowed with the seven kinds of gems;
knowing my intention, it always arises for me.
Thirty thousand aeons ago was the couch I gave then;
I do not recall any bad destination — this is the fruit of the couch.
Twenty thousand aeons ago there were three persons named Suvaṇṇābha,
wheel-turning monarchs (cakkavatti) endowed with the seven treasures, of great might.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled."
Thus indeed the Venerable Pallaṅkadāyaka Thera spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of Pallaṅkadāyaka Thera is concluded.
Summary (uddāna):
Chatta (the umbrella) and Thambha (the pillar) and Vedī (the railing),
Parivāra (the retinue) and Ummāpupphiya (the flax-flower),
Anuloma and Magga (the path), Phalaka (the plank) and Vaṭaṃsaka (the chaplet),
and Pallaṅkadāyī (the giver of the couch): fifty-six verses are proclaimed.
The Chatta Chapter, the fifteenth, is concluded.
