[235] In the city of Aruṇavatī
I was then a maker of cakes (pūvika);
I saw the Victor (jina) Sikhī
passing by my door.
Taking up the Buddha's bowl,
I gave a sāla flower
to the Buddha who has fared rightly,
with a serene mind.
In the thirty-first aeon (kappa) from now,
since I offered that flower,
I have known no bad destination (duggati):
this is the fruit of the sāla flower.
In the fourteenth aeon from now
I was Amitañjala,
endowed with the seven treasures,
a universal monarch (cakkavatti) of great might.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Sālapupphiya spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Sālapupphiya is concluded.
