[268] At that time I was an osprey (ukkusa)
on the bank of the river Candabhāgā;
having seized a great fish,
I gave it to the sage (muni) Siddhattha.
It was in the ninety-fourth aeon (kappa) from now
that I then gave that fish;
I know of no bad destination (duggati):
this is the fruit of the gift of a fish.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (abhiññā) have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Macchadāyaka the Elder spoke these verses.
