[267] Not far from Himavant there is a mountain named Romasa;
at the foot of that mountain dwelt an ascetic (samaṇa) with developed faculties (indriya).
Taking viḷāli tubers (viḷāli), I gave them to the ascetic;
the Great Hero, the Self-Awakened One (sayambhū), the unvanquished, expressed his appreciation:
"You have given me a viḷāli with a serene mind:
when you are reborn in existence, may the fruit thereof be produced for you."
In the ninety-fourth aeon (kappa) from now, since I gave that viḷāli,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the viḷāli.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā) and these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā), have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Viḷālidāyaka spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Viḷālidāyaka is concluded.
