[296] When the sun had not yet risen,
abundant confidence (pasāda) arose:
the supreme Buddha, the Great Seer (mahesi),
had made his appearance in the world.
There I heard the sound (sadda),
but I did not see that Victor (jina);
and when I came to death,
I recollected the perception (saññā) of the Buddha.

In the ninety-fourth aeon (kappa) from now
it was that I gained that perception;
I have known no bad destination (duggati):
this is the fruit of homage to the Buddha (buddhapūjā).
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Saddasaññaka spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Saddasaññaka is concluded.
