[306] There was a great festival for the great Bodhi tree of the Blessed One Vipassī —
the Fully Awakened One, the eldest of the world, the bull of men, as though he himself stood at that very tree.
At that time the Blessed One, attended by the Saṅgha of bhikkhus (bhikkhusaṅgha),
proclaimed the four truths (catusacca), uttering his bull-like speech.
Teaching in brief and teaching also in detail,
the Fully Awakened One, with the veil drawn open (vivaṭacchada), brought quenching to the great multitude.
Having heard the Dhamma of him, the eldest of the world, the one who is such (tādī),
I paid homage at the Teacher's feet and departed facing north.
In the ninety-first aeon (kappa) from the present, since I heard that Dhamma then,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of hearing the Dhamma.
In the thirty-third aeon from the present I was a lord of the earth,
Sutavā by name, a wheel-turning monarch (cakkavatti) of great power.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Dhammasaññaka speak these verses.
