"Homage be to you, O heroic Buddha!
You are wholly released in every respect.
I have fallen into calamity;
be a refuge for me."
Siddhattha, the person without equal in the world,
declared to him:
"The Saṅgha is like the great ocean,
immeasurable, unsurpassed.
There settle your mind in confidence
in the Saṅgha, the stainless field,
the giver of endless fruit,
and plant a good seed as well."
Having said this, the All-knowing One,
the Eldest of the world, the bull of men,
having instructed me thus,
rose up into the vault of the sky.
When the All-knowing One, the bull of men,
had only just departed, not long thereafter
I met with death,
and I was reborn in Tusita.
Then, having settled my mind in confidence
in the Saṅgha, the stainless field,
the giver of endless fruit,
I rejoiced in heaven for an aeon.
In the ninety-fourth aeon from the present
it was that I then gained that confidence;
I know of no bad destination —
this is the fruit of confidence.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Sampasādika speak these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Sampasādika is concluded.
